How much could you save?
Just imagine owning a rental property that earns you up to $3,500 back from the Queensland Government — before the Federal STC discount is even applied. The good news is, most eligible Tablelands landlords can combine both programs for the greatest possible reduction in upfront cost.
| Solar System Size | Queensland Government Rebate | Plus Federal STC Discount |
|---|---|---|
| 3 kW to under 4 kW | $2,500 | ~$1,000–$1,500 additional saving |
| 4 kW to under 5 kW | $3,000 | ~$1,500–$2,000 additional saving |
| 5 kW and above Best value | $3,500 | ~$2,000–$3,000 additional saving |
Important: The rebate is capped at either the applicable rebate value or the total installed system cost, whichever is lower. Funding is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis — once conditional approval is granted, funding is reserved for up to 150 days.
How open-minded are you about making your rental work harder for you?
Most landlords who've installed solar on their rental properties tell us they wish they'd done it sooner. With rising electricity costs and a competitive market on the Atherton Tablelands, solar is becoming one of the most practical things you can do for your investment — right now.
More attractive to tenants
Just imagine the difference when your property listing says "solar included." Tenants are actively searching for homes with lower running costs — solar helps yours stand out immediately in a competitive market.
Happier, longer-staying tenants
Most landlords don't realise how directly power bills affect tenant satisfaction. Solar can significantly cut electricity costs — reducing financial stress for your tenants and improving retention.
Improved long-term property value
The good news is solar is a durable, visible improvement to your asset. Properties with solar typically attract stronger valuations — and the improvement pays for itself over time through energy savings.
Support sustainable housing
Don't worry about the complexity — we handle the technical side completely. Investing in solar positions you as a forward-thinking landlord aligned with Queensland's renewable energy future.

Most people don't realise you can combine both programs
There are two separate government programs available to eligible landlords right now — and the good news is they stack. The Queensland Supercharged Solar rebate and the Federal STC discount can be used together, which is exactly what Smart Elec helps you do.
Supercharged Solar for Renters
Queensland Government rebate of $2,500–$3,500 depending on system size. Applied as a direct rebate. Limited funding — available while allocated funds last.
Learn more at qld.gov.au →Federal STC Solar Rebate
Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) reduce the purchase price of your solar system. Queensland earns more STCs due to higher sunshine hours. Smart Elec handles all STC paperwork — applied automatically at purchase.
Learn more at energy.gov.au →Cheaper Home Batteries Program
Add a battery to your rental solar system and access the Federal Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program — approximately 30% off eligible battery systems (5–100 kWh). Can be combined with solar rebates.
